I have more than thirty years&; experience as an editor at Bantam Books, Simon & Schuster, and Crown Publishers, across multiple formats (mass market, trade paperback, hardcover, and digital), where I acquired and edited numerous award-winning and best-selling titles (including those by two FirstLadies).
I work with publishers, agents, and private clients, editing both nonfiction and popular fiction. I can bring a book from concept to finished project; my services include project development, editing/critiquing proposals, manuscript evaluation and editing, rewriting (light or heavy, as required), coaching, and collaboration. I work well with organizations and strong personalities. Proposals I have worked on have been sold to Knopf, Norton, Flatiron Books, HarperElixir, St. Martin’s, and others. I have edited or ghostwritten books that have been published by Ballantine Books, Random House, Berkeley, Dragon Door, Hachette, National Geographic, Simon & Schuster, and others. I also work with authors who prefer to publish independently.
My areas of nonfiction expertise include cookbooks, food and nutrition, diet/health/exercise, parenting, psychology, relationships, self-help, history, popular culture, and memoir. I have worked with Colin Cowie (The Gold Standard), Erica Komisar (Being There: Why Prioritizing Motherhood in the First Three Years Matters and Chicken Little the Sky Isn’t Falling: Raising Adolescents in the New Age of Anxiety), Bob Greene (Get With the Program! and The Best Life Diet, both New York Times bestsellers), Dr. Pierre Dukan, author of The Dukan Diet (New York Times bestseller), Molly Wizenberg, author of A Homemade Life (New York Times bestseller), and Gretchen Rubin, author of Happier at Home (New York Times bestseller); and cookbook authors that include Todd English, Paul Newman, Marian Burros, Joanne Weir, John Tesar, and Grace Young.
